General Manager
Position Overview
The General Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of daily operations at The Dog Stop, ensuring exceptional care for dogs, outstanding service for pet parents, and strong business performance. This role combines operational leadership, team development, customer experience, and financial accountability to drive a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
Oversee day-to-day operations including daycare, boarding, grooming, and retail
Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all dogs in our care
Maintain facility cleanliness and compliance with company standards and local regulations
Manage scheduling, capacity, and workflow to maximize efficiency and service quality
Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing team
Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture
Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management
Lead by example in professionalism, work ethic, and care standards
Customer Experience
Deliver exceptional, relationship-driven service to pet parents
Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally
Build strong community relationships and encourage repeat business
Financial Performance
Manage P&L responsibilities, including revenue growth and expense control
Monitor key performance metrics and implement improvements
Drive sales across all services and retail offerings
Support local marketing initiatives and community outreach efforts
Compliance & Safety
Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and animal care standards
Maintain accurate records and reporting
Enforce company policies and procedures consistently
Qualifications
3–5+ years of management experience (pet care, retail, hospitality, or service industry preferred)
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Proven ability to manage teams and drive business results
Comfortable with a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Passion for dogs and commitment to animal welfare
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in pet care, kennel management, or veterinary environments
P&L management experience
Customer service leadership experience
Knowledge of dog behavior and handling
Work Environment
Active, hands-on role requiring time on your feet
Exposure to dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
May require weekends, holidays, and flexible scheduling
