Front Desk Supervisor (potential growth into Assistant Management)

The Dog Stop® East End is looking for an enthusiastic Front Desk Supervisor with extensive retail, dog, and customer service experience. 

Knowledge of the dog-care industry is required for this position. Applicants without any prior dog care experience will be rejected. If you have experience that you think is pertinent but not listed on your resume, please include an explanation in a cover letter.

We also require a positive attitude, outgoing personality, dedication to providing an excellent experience for our clientele, and, of course, a love of dogs. This is a full-time position and open availability (including some weekends) is required. Pay is $15 - $18 an hour depending on skill level and performance. At The Dog Stop® we prefer to promote from within so this position does provide qualified candidates a fantastic growth potential into an Assistant Manager role at our location or another location within the Pittsburgh Area.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • First and foremost, managing the daily care of dogs 
  • Knowing the basics of dog body language 
  • Meeting Sales Goals
  • Merchandising Products
  • Inventory Tracking
  • Product Research 
  • Developing Customer Relationships
  • Social Media Content Creation 
  • Laundry duties
  • Dish duties
  • Clear communication with an assistant and general manager(s)
  • Contributing to a positive team environment and, of course, cuddling and having fun with dogs!

Prior to being trained upfront, hired candidates will begin with approximately 4-5 training shifts in the back. This will ensure the employee is familiar will all aspects of the facility and how they are run.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience in retail and customer service
  • At least 1 year of experience working in the dog care field
  • Willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work weekends
  • Previous experience using client-based systems such as PetExec or Gingr is preferred but not required.
